A complete set is created by combining individual sets into a single package. For example, a complete set for cardiac surgery can consist of a machine set and table set with or without additional components.

Complete sets can also include cardioplegia, haemofiltration and transfusion sets or an oxygenator. The packaging of the complete set can be selected according to different criteria. The composition of these sets depends on the requirements and handling preferences of the user.

Cardioplegia sets
The choice and administration of cardioplegia – crystalloid or blood / cold or warm / pumped or by gravity – depends on the type of procedure and the surgeon’s preference. The choice of components for removal (spike, needle, Luer lock or connector) depends on the type of cardioplegia container.
Delivery to the patient takes place via the cardioplegia table line. The configuration of the cardioplegia set is determined by the surgical requirements. The cardioplegia set can be packaged separately or supplied as an integral part of the complete machine set.
Haemofilter sets, example 1
Haemofilter sets
A hemofilter set is used to remove unwanted volumes (priming and rinsing solution), chemical and metabolic waste products as well as certain medications from the circulating blood. The components to be removed are fed via a filtrate line to a waste bag.
The choice of the intermediate switching point and the filtration pressure determine the structure and composition of the haemofilter set.

The tubing materials of the table sets are usually made of PVC or silicone. The type of packaging is determined according to the user’s wishes and the requirements of the technology used (e.g. reaching down or up, precision circulation technology, etc.) and handling.

HLM machine sets
An HLM machine set is used for extracorporeal circulation during cardiopulmonary bypass. The veno-arterial circulation of blood and priming fluid, including additives and medication, takes place in this system.
HLM machine sets are usually not standard sets, but are designed by the user according to the specific room and application requirements.
